Dynelec, 1949 - 2019
In 1949 Leo Peckman and Frank Melton left their jobs and launched an Electrical Engineering company supporting the heavy industry of the Illawarra.
70 Years on, Dynelec continues to support the Mining, Industrial & Utilities segments with expert electrical engineering services, switchboard and control panel manufacturing, rotating equipment overhaul including motor rewind and VPI, as well a complete range of site electrical services.
Things that have changed over that time include our trading name to Dynelec, partial ownership under the Jones & Rickard Group in 1979 then fully from 2016, and of course the wider offering of services.
Our xEnergy licence with Eaton provides us a compliant and reliable Motor Control Centre solution that appeals to a variety of heavy industrial clients.
Our contract with Sydney Water, partnership with Schneider Electric delivering to Sydney Trains and electricity distributors, and projects with Snowy Hydro & Water NSW firmly places us in the Utility space.
Our upgraded Test Bay in Unanderra enables Motor Load Testing. VPI ensures reliable motor overhaul.
Pretty soon, our fourth Unanderra building will be completed housing a larger fit for purpose Switchboard & Control Panel manufacturing capability. This will also create more space for our Heavy Mining work.
Increasing focus on the welfare of our team and customers, and becoming accredited to Quality & Safety standards, has been another hallmark of the past two decades. And of course our annual intake of Apprentices, Graduate Engineers, and Interns has ensured we can continue to maintain and develop expertise.
What hasn't changed is support for our local underground coal mines, with 29 years of AS3800 accreditation as an approved workshop to conduct repair and overhaul to explosion protected equipment. Manufacturing & Rebuilding of electrical equipment for underground, testing & inspection including Code C&D, Motor overhaul, and mine site testing, diagnostics, replacement and installation continue to be core services. With our new building coming, the heavy workshop reconfiguration will increase our capacity significantly.
Our workforce is inducted across the local mine sites, and heavy industrial plants in NSW.
What also hasn't changed is our Marine electrical capability, which has recently expanded beyond Port Kembla & Eden, to the Ports of Sydney.
We look forward to the next 70 years !
